We are excited to celebrate Women’s History Month throughout the month of March with a special focus on International Women’s Day on March 8th !  This is a time to center our energy into creating a gender equal world— free of the biases, stereotypes, and discriminations that women face by just existing.

As part of our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives, during the month of March and specifically on International Women’s Day on March 8th, Forrest Solutions has committed to the promise of creating a gender equal world and will be casting a spotlight on this through a multitude of company-wide initiatives that aim to generate difficult conversations and to empower and uplift the women of Forrest Solutions to break the biases.

Crowdsourcing Inspiration

Of the initiatives that we are enacting, this is perhaps the most visible for everyone that works at Forrest Solutions. Next week, members of our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team are constructing a large community board that will sit in the middle of the Forrest Solutions’ office for all employees to write on.

The goal in creating this community board is to crowd source inspiration by having members of the office write down what International Women’s Day means to them, the unseen challenges that they face, and write heartfelt messages that help people get through the day. The community board, while there to write motivational and heartfelt notes, also serves to show members of the office that we are serious about our key pillars of community:

  • Listening, learning, acting
  • Committing to a culture where differences are valued
  • Encouraging dialogue of diverse ideas, topics, and issues enabling others to learn from this exchange
  • Promoting employment and leadership opportunities
  • Striving to prepare staff from all backgrounds to foster respect, understanding, awareness, diversity, and cooperation

Company-Wide Webinar on International Women’s Day

While the celebration for Women’s History Month will continue throughout the month, we will lead a company-wide webinar on Tuesday, March 8th on International Women’s Day. During this webinar, our Head of Learning, Leadership and Career Development, Janet Wise, will discuss all the initiatives that our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee has planned for the month of March and International Women’s Day, along with interactive role playing of situations women often find themselves in during the workday, and staggering data that is meant to spark difficult, healthy conversations around the disparities in how men and women are treated in the workplace.

The webinar is meant to celebrate International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month by encouraging healthy dialogue between members of Forrest Solutions and showcasing all the hard work the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee has contributed to our International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month initiatives throughout March.

What We Will Be Showing on Social Media

Each year, Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day (IWD) focus on a theme. This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #BreaktheBias where IWD leadership call on all of us to:

Imagine a gender equal world.

A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination.

A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive.

A world where difference is valued and celebrated.

Together we can forge women’s equality.

Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias.

To that end and throughout the month on social media, you will be seeing us highlight the women of Forrest Solutions, what they are doing to #BreaktheBias, and focusing on what women inspire them in the world.
