Future of Work Report

New York, New York – July 28, 2025

Forrest Solutions, the nation’s premier provider of onsite outsourcing and staffing solutions, today announced the release of its 2025 Future of Work Executive Report, uncovering critical trends shaping the modern workplace. The findings are based on a survey of operations, facilities, and workplace leaders at top law firms, revealing a clear consensus: the future of work will be won or lost based on the ability to recruit, train, and transform people.  The report can be requested here.

Law firms are investing heavily in hybrid workplaces, technology, and process improvements—but those initiatives are falling short without the operational talent to activate them. Forrest Solutions’ survey shows that even firms with well-defined workplace strategies lack confidence that those strategies will still be effective two years from now.

  • 38% of law firm leaders say staffing gaps are their biggest operational hurdle.
  • Only 11.5% feel “very confident” their current workplace strategy will be viable in two years.
  • 53.8% say people—not process or tech—are the hardest area to modernize.

The data signals a workplace transformation gap—where firms know what needs to happen but are struggling to implement due to workforce limitations and internal resistance.

“In an industry racing to modernize space and systems, it’s the people challenges—staffing, skills, and change management—that are holding firms back,” said Anthony Davies, Chief Revenue Officer at Forrest Solutions. “This report validates what we see on the ground every day: if you want to future-proof your workplace strategy, you have to start with your people strategy.”

The Forrest Solutions Future of Work Executive Report makes the case for a new approach to workplace transformation—one that starts by solving the talent problem. The report highlights key areas of opportunity:

  • Middle/Back Office Operations: 31% say this is the area most ready for transformation—making records, finance, and administrative workflows a strategic entry point
  • Readiness for Outsourcing: 81% of firms are open to or view outsourcing as essential to meet strategic demands
  • Change Fatigue: Despite heavy investment, many firms are still “catching up,” suggesting a need for outside expertise and sustainable change enablement
