For the second year running, Forrest Solutions is proud to be a partner of Phipps Neighborhood’s Summer Youth Employment Program— or SYEP—and we are thrilled to say we have accepted 15 young adults into our 6-week summer internship program for 2022! For many interns, this will be their first career experience and upon completion of the 6-week program, may have the opportunity to continue on in full-time positions at Forrest Solutions.
Phipps Neighborhoods helps children, youth, and families break the cycle of poverty by offering workforce and educational programs. Since its inception, Phipps Neighborhoods has provided job training and meaningful employment to young adults up to 22 years old.
The partnership program is being led this year as it was last year by Forrest Solution’s Vice President of Operations, Marcos Briones. Upon acceptance into the program, the interns, ranging from 16 to 22 years of age, meet with Marcos to discuss the career path they would like to follow during their 6 weeks at Forrest Solutions. The young adults discuss their future plans, current goals, desires, and passions. Following that conversation, they are placed in corresponding departments. In addition to hands on learning, interns complete an online learning curriculum on Forrest Solutions University, a micro-learning management system designed to allow our interns opportunities to learn in small, digestible chunks whenever and wherever they please.
SYEP provides Forrest Solutions employees the ability to take on a mentorship role with the interns and aid in their professional development. On a company-wide scale, we see our partnership with SYEP as a meaningful way to drive change within our community while creating real career paths for dozens of disenfranchised young adults. We are proud that with the help of Marcos and the operations team, Forrest Solutions has become an agent of change and a safe community for our interns to learn and grow professionally.
